Pull Yourself Back on the Road.....Again and Again

When we are trying to make a lifestyle change, we will often become victim to the "all or nothing" way of thinking. It's the oldest story:

We start our new "diet" on Monday, we slip up on Thursday morning...oh well! All is lost. It's time to have one last food bender (again) before we change everything Monday morning!....Then Monday morning comes and SURPRISE! We wake up pretty much the same person we were the day before when we were desperately shoving cake in our mouth at 11:30pm because tomorrow was the day when everything would be different.

My friends, I am here to tell you, for the vast majority of us, we will never have that "ah-ha moment." We will never wake up Monday morning and start our movie montage series of perfect events that make us effortlessly arrive at our ideal selves exactly 90 days from now.

Here's what CAN happen instead. You can push yourself on a Wednesday afternoon, in the middle of a month to do that workout you don't feel like doing. You can resist eating the doughnut at 2:30pm, even if you broke down and ate the sausage biscuit first thing that morning. You can learn to jerk yourself back on the road over and over and over.....and over and over again! You can begin to make tiny decisions that will, collectively, one day add up to a new you.

Based on my own experience and that of my clients, the road to success is not straight. It is long and winding and full of detours and full on break downs.

I encourage you to begin to look at your own journey differently. Look at each day, each moment, as a opportunity to do something different. Each and every decision you make either contributes to the "old you" or the "new you." Habits CAN be replaced but they often take time and lots of restarts. However, every single time you pull yourself back on the road, you have new tools, new experiences that will help you get back to it faster.

More than anything, never ever give up! You are worthy of that big, beautiful life you keep dreaming about!
